Our first visit to Civitavecchia

Our first visit to Civitavecchia was during an MSC cruise and we were pleasantly surprised by what the city had to offer. Upon disembarking the cruise ship, we hopped on a shuttle bus that took us to the city center. The city center was like any other Italian city with its stunning old buildings and cobblestone streets that took us back in time. The weather was just perfect, warm enough for a light sweater, making it a great day to explore the city.

One of the highlights of our visit to Civitavecchia was trying the local food. We stumbled upon a food stall selling arancini. Arancini is a popular local food in Civitavecchia, Italy. It is a ball-shaped snack made of rice that is filled with bolognese sauce, breaded, and deep-fried. The crispy exterior and soft, savory filling make arancini a delicious treat. It is a staple food in the Italian cuisine and a must-try for anyone visiting Civitavecchia. Enjoy it as a snack, a light lunch or as a side dish to a main meal, arancini is a perfect example of the simple yet flavorful food of Civitavecchia. If you haven’t tried arancini before, it’s a must-try dish when visiting Italy. Our cruise mate even took advantage of the opportunity to buy a pair of beautiful leather shoes at a great price.
